Instrument Cluster Repair


Your Mercedes Benz instrument cluster contains the most important collection of information you'll ever need while operating your vehicle! Not only are the obvious fuel, speed and tachometer signals important, but engine vitals such as oil pressure, oil level, water coolant level and others, are closely and accurately monitored to keep your vehicle in peak condition.


Thus, if your instrument cluster is starting to show signs of twitchiness, inaccuracy, inoperation or even looks something similar to the one on the right, then it's very likely that you have developed a serious malfunction.


Correcting malfunctions such as sticky gauges, corrupt LCD displays, dead gauges/warning lights is our specialty. Our support includes the early Mercedes classics, such as the R107, W126 and W124.



Some commonly occuring issues with instrument clusters :

  • W126, R107 (digital VSS signal) : No odometer - crumbled vinyl gears requiring new set
  • W124, W201, W116, R107 (cable fed speedometer) : No odometer - odometer/trip meter gear slipping
  • All classics : No/slow clock, no tachometer - burnt, failed components requiring rebuild
  • All classics : backlighting too dim - rheostat, or LED upgrade
  • Early W140, R129 : Total failure, dash flash - replace power circuitry
  • Early W140, R129 : No odometer, or clock - could be either electrical or gear issue
  • Early W140, R129 : Large resting current draw - electrical issue
  • Early W140, R129 : LCD light burnt/dim - replace bulb
  • Mid-late 90s W140, R129, W202, W210 : Twitchy gauges, floating gauges - repair/replace gauges
  • Mid-late 90s W202, W210 : Corrupt LCDs - repair/replace LCD ribbons
  • W220, W211 : Backlight failure - lighting circuit repair, LED upgrade





Sending In Your Unit

  1. Fill out the online Repair Form, and include it with your unit :
  2. International customers, ex. United states, Europe, must fill out the customs documented, and follow the shipping instructions available here.
  3. Bundle the unit up in ample padding and place it in a sturdy box. Address is located at the bottom of the Repair Form. Please note : Only USPS may be used for American shipping! Canadian shipments may use private couriers such as UPS, FedEx, etc., all other countries must use their federal postal services.
  4. Once we have received the unit and diagnosed the fault, we will e-mail an update. If you are satisfied with the diagnosis, we will begin repair accordingly. Final payment is done using the easy PayPal system, with Invoice sent in the email exchange. If for whatever reason, you have decided to decline service, or service is not possible for your unit, a shipping charge is required to send it back.
